How long can box hair dye sit before it goes bad?

I dyed the bottom layer of my hair red lastnight at about 10:30 and this morning my friend desided she just wants to do a little strip of her hair the same color but doesnt want to buy a whole box for just that, can she use the left over i have from lastnight?
