Open wounds in a river??? Am I going to catch something?!!!?

Yesterday, right before a group of us left to go to the river I got my full blown period. I decided to go anyways which I am regretting now :/ I didn't have any 'protection' with me at the time. The river is nasty, college kids fill the river with trash and probably feces and just other nasty things. The river doesn't smell or anything and fish still manage to survive. Anyways, I got home took a shower and I'm just sketched out and wanting to know before I go to gyno if anybody knows anything more about this???????
